Hello friends! It’s been a long time. My jobs took me away from writing for Zone Reads, and then we had some web hosting issues, but now we’re back. I don’t have a football writing job anymore (or any job at present), so I have more time to write about the draft and such. I’m […]
Category: Mock Drafts
Here’s your day 2 mock
People love reading this stuff, right? Anyway, here’s a quick before-bed rundown of how rounds 2 and 3 might go.
Final first-round mock
Figured I’d give this one last swing before the draft. The Zone Reads Big Board will be out later today as well. I tried to include some brief writeups on each player here when I could.
Dueling Mock II: Three Rounds, 3/10
We did it again. Another mock draft, taking into account the Combine and the first wave of free agent signings. Haven’t been posting in a while due to other life obligations, but if you follow Zone Reads on Twitter (@zonereads, naturally) you can get a good handle on what we’re up to these days. Without further […]
DUELING MOCKS, Round 1: Five rounds, February 11-12, 2017
vixticator and I occasionally like to do a “dueling mock” draft where we alternate picks. We think it gives us a more accurate picture of how we actually value players, since its’ easy to have some psychological bias to “let” players try to fall to a particular position or team when doing a mock by yourself. With […]
My first two-round mock
It’s draft season, and after the Senior Bowl has solidified our perspective on certain prospects, I thought it was time to write up a mock. This mock will be based roughly on my board, and roughly what I think teams ought to do, which is different than what I think they will do.
Rip It Up And Start Again: Double-Blockbuster Seven-Round Mock
I was working on turning that four-round mock into a seven-round mock… and then the Eagles trade broke yesterday. So, we have two blockbuster trades to the top, presumably for QBs; hence the “Double Blockbuster Mock.” And, as the title suggests… we’re going the whole way. Seven rounds. All seven and we’ll watch them fall! (RIP, Prince. […]
Is the Drew Brees era over?
I started writing this after the Saints fell to 0-2 and it was revealed that Drew Brees injured his shoulder against Tampa Bay. With Brees missing the first game in his career due to injury in week 3 (the Saints are now 0-3), and with the team trading Akiem Hicks today for a blocking tight end, it […]
Some helpful charts and spreadsheets for you from Day Two
I’ve linked to four spreadsheets we made over the course of the day to help with your NFL Draft experience. The first won’t be too much help now, but in case you wanted to view the Day 2 mock vixticator and I made in the afternoon, before proceedings resumed, now you can. The second is […]
Griddle Takes: Round 1 of the NFL Draft
Fresh off the griddle so you know they’re piping hot, vix and I have our takes on each pick in this draft. 1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Jameis Winston, QB, Florida State vix: Winston regressed in his soph season. His flaws on tape (decision making, random mechanical lapses) didn’t get as much attention as his […]
