Revised Big Board

We updated the big board yesterday, shuffling some rankings based on new information and evaluations, and adding about 20 new players. The most notable of these is Ohio State C Corey Linsley, now projected as one of the top players at his position. Dominique Easley made a big jump, as the reports about his knees are coming back positively, but he’s still a risk.

I stopped numerically ranking players after a certain point because the quality curve becomes so flat that it stretches credulity (even moreso than normal) as to how I can differentiate between them. In addition, since we’re getting to the point where we won’t be able to evaluate all the prospects of a given level, numerical rankings can actually be misleading.

I wish I could add “confidence ratings” to each prospect, on a 1-5 scale as to how confident I am in our evaluations (based on the amount of work we’ve been able to do for each player), but it’s unlikely to happen before the draft. I do feel very confident in our rankings of the top 100 or so, and really, I think we’ve done a lot of good work into day 3 as well– it’s only on the fringes of being drafted where we haven’t been able to get very much information on some of the players. Of course, teams’ draft boards are so divergent by then that it’s unlikely we’ll see a draft order that much resembles our rankings anyway. Still, I’m proud of the work we’ve done and the relentless tape grinding of the team. They’re the ones who make this happen.
